American multi-billion dollar retail store giant, Walmart is set to launch in Lagos Nigeria.
According to Walmart Chief Executive Officer of Europe, Middle East, Africa and Canada, Mrs. Shelley Broader, who made the disclosure stated that Walmart brand, which is currently in 28 countries with over 2.2 million employees is happy to launch in Nigeria with Lagos being the first target location.
Mrs Broader who led a delegation to visit Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode further revealed that the development will be beneficial to the growth of Lagos State and support the governor’s vision to make life comfortable for residents.
Receiving the delegation, Ambode said the presence of the brand in Lagos would go a long way not only in creating jobs but also boosting the economy of the state.
He added that his administration was ready to give the necessary support to the organisation to establish its presence in Lagos.
The governor said it would also help in actualising his vision to make life comfortable for residents of the state. ”That summaries the reason Walmart has to berth in Lagos. We are committed to expanding the business scope for Walmart and like I said, I am interested in having your brand signature in Lagos. You have been pro-people and that is why we find a congress between the objectives of Walmart and Lagos State Government.
