Freedom without privacy is rubbish. Why are Nigerian mobile networks always in the act of sending multiple unwanted messages without due consent or opt-in from the subscriber? MTN is #1 and king in this dubious act. Imagine you expecting a more important SMS notification or credit alert from your bank and it turn out to be one of those spam and annoying message from your mobile network provider asking you to subscribe for an unwanted or non related product / service of your choice.
In as much as some of those messages might not really emanated from MTN themself, but one can’t as well denied the fact that the platform used of course still routed through your mobile provider e.g MTN.
Most of these type of spam / promo messages are from short code numbers like “33156”, “4100”, “10425” etc. This is really bad marketing if you ask me because as a subscriber, you are and should still be regarded as the king. At least, a subscriber should have opt-in to such service / promo before bombarded with unwanted messages. Follow the procedure below to disabled such annoying message.
Follow the below instructions to stop MTN spam messages
navigate to your text message menu from your phone
Type “STOP” without the quote and send to 33111
Immediately you will got deactivated for any future MTN promo and spam messages
You won’t be charge for the SMS
