Following the directive by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to all Nigerian Banks for a mandatory move to enroll all customers by registering their data and identity in the Bank Verification Number, BVN. The BVN excercise which started since the last quarter of 2014 will ends by June 30, 2015. Therefore any customer who is yet to register for the BVN wont be allow to access or to carry out transaction on his/her account.
Under normal circumstances, BVN enrollment exercise shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes and is the registration is done in all bank branches nationwide.
Steps to get enroll for the BVN exercise.
- Walk into any bank and obtain the BVN form for registration exercise
- Fill and Submit the BVN enrollment form
- Present Self for data capture
- Acknowledgement slip with ticket ID will be given after enrollment
- BVN will be sent via SMS/Email
Bank customers who do not enroll or provide their BVN details for linking by June 30, 2015 will have their accounts restricted from performing all banking transactions in Nigeria and outside the country.
The BVN registration is done only once irrespective of the number of account one has as long the bears the same name identifying the real owner.
