How to Link BVN to your GTBank Account via Internet Banking


Bank Verification Number or BVN shouldn’t be strange to your hearing if you live in Nigeria or perhaps you own an account with any of the Nigerian bank. A bio-metric exercise mandated by the Central Bank of Nigeria to ensures all bank account(s) holder get registered and partake in the exercise which captures their real data like names, photo identity, fingerprint and signature.

If you answer yes, you don’t have to do it again even though you are required to go to any GTB branch to link your existing BVN done in other bank(s) to your GTBank account. This of course is tedious as many customers will be queued up in the bank to do same. There is goodness to those who uses online / internet banking as you can login and complete the process within seconds.

Irrespective of the number of accounts you have with any bank, you’re required to do the BVN registration exercise only once, double registration is a criminal offence.

In this short and explanatory tutorial, i will list the procedures on how i linked my BVN done in UBA to my GTBank account via internet banking, i don’t need to do the exercise in GTBank again since i already did once in UBA. I only log on to GTBank online banking and follow some steps to link my BVN to my GTBank account.


Login to internet banking via GTBank.com

At the menu left hand side below, Locate and click the “BVN Linker” link

bvnIt takes you to a page that look like the below;

bvn2Now click the “New Request” button and get to the page similar to below;

bvn-formEnter your BVN, choose the bank name which you did the BVN registration and enter the answer to your security question.

Click continue button, a popup confirmation message “Your Request has been Verified and Submitted” displayed.
