  1. Hello Emmy,

thanks for this overview – that’s a great place to start looking!

I realize you’re probably getting tons of questions like this every day, but I was wondering if you could share a word or two about the general availability of power and internet: I’m working as a web developer from my home in Germany, and I’m thinking about moving to Nigeria (Lagos). Having read a bit about frequent power outages, I’m worried if I’ll be able to do the same work from there. Some questions I’m asking myself: In your typical power outage, does the Internet go down as well? If you have a generator and/or other means of keeping your devices powered, can you keep working through outages? And how local are they – can you go to another part of town to avoid the problem?

Thank you very much for your time!

    • Thanks for your comment and please accept my apologies for a very late response. It was due to some heavy logistics issues that kept me offline from this blog for months but am fully back.

Yes there is a constant power outage here in Nigeria but there are now alternatives like inverter and solar systems that will saves from you rather than running a generation 24/7.
In terms of internet, it has greatly improved from the dial up it use to be back then like 10-15 years ago to high speed LTE internet technology, and very affordable, getting cheaper day by day

  2. internet in nigeria should be shut down , if they dont stop scaming people all around … Internet is not for nigeria.,…

    • I understands your feelings Luke, but i believe proper lay down procedures and frequent sanctions against earring operators will go a long way in restoring sanity and better improved servers at more affordable rate.

  3. Morning Emmy. Please I was hoping you should enlighten me on good wifi service providers with network coverage available in the western and southern regions preferably ota ogun state, Lagos and asaba Delta State. I intially wanted to go for smile but sadly they do not have network coverage in ota ogun state. Thanks Emmy.
